When faced with mountains of work or assignments, quizzes and exams that all seem to be due next week, it’s easy to get riled up and stressed by the whole phenomenon. Kevin Sheehan being a victim of the same phenomenon decided it would be nice to take the weekend off so that he could let his brain take a break from everything that was going on. He came up with a ritual that would work every time he felt the load of stress weigh him down, and decided to share it with the world in this blog.
Taking two days off to completely zone out allowed Kevin Sheehan to get back to basics with his roots. Life isn’t meant to strain you every moment you’ve got. As the owner of a big company, it was hard to completely zone out so he did allow himself two hours every day to check and respond to high-level e-mails.
He likes to go on a relaxation retreat that combines outdoor activities such as snowshoeing and hiking, with yoga practices day and night along with healthy, vegetarian meals. During his breaks, he’ll put on some classical music as studies have shown that it soothes the mind and lowers stress hormones. If rock music is your favourite kind of music as it is with Kevin Sheehan, you can also put on some of that since any music that you love is said to create meaningful relationship with yourself.
One of Sheehan’s favourite yoga poses is the eagle pose since it is a basic stress reliever. By opening up the shoulders and ridding your neck from strain, you can go into a meditative space that is free from worries and judgment.
Crafts are another great method to relieve excess stress due to the repetitive motions that are needed or the ability to express yourself in a creative medium. From messy paints to making jewellery, this outlet can be mesmerizing and mindful. travel map
